I've been with the same company for almost a year. I enjoy the work and the office atmosphere is fun but a few months ago I experienced a period of the doldrums. I wasn't the only one with this attitude; everyone had a bad attitude. The boss must've have noticed it too because he added a business speaking training event to our schedule.
Originally I scoffed. As someone raised in the era of sarcasm, coupled with childhood favorites like South Park I welcome most everything with suspicion. So this is the lens through which I viewed the seminar. After the seminar my opinion changed. The speakers were magnetic, encouraging, and exciting. The activities were useful. Plus, thefood was tasty. The important thing was I went back to the office with new motivation, healthier leadership qualities, and a better relationship with my coworkers. If your company is planning such an event check your cynicism at the door..business executive networking group
